Tony Hawks - the TV and radio comedian and bestselling author - is giving a talk in Budleigh Salterton soon.

He’ll be appearing at the Public Hall – under the auspices of the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival – on Saturday, January 28.

His talk – about his latest book, Once Upon a Time in the West Country – will start at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm.

Tony is a regular guest on radio programmes, including The News Quiz, Would I Lie to You, Just a Minute and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, and recently presented his own Radio 4 series, Tony Hawks’ Lost Weekends.

He has also appeared on TV on Have I Got News For You, They Think It’s All Over, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, and Red Dwarf.

Hawks is the author of the bestseller Round Ireland with a Fridge – the story of his absurd quest to hitch around Ireland… with a fridge. The book became a top 10 Sunday Times bestseller and was serialised on BBC Radio 4. His second book Playing the Moldovans at Tennis, was also serialised on BBC Radio 4. His latest book, Once Upon a Time in the West Country, tells how he left the city to move to the West Country, embracing village rituals with absurd and hilarious consequences.

Tickets are £10, available online or at The Card Shop Too, 3 High Street, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6LD (cash and cheques only).
