The weekend's South West Peninsula action saw Torridgeside stay in third in the Division One East, while Holsworthy snapped a seven game winless streak.
Division One East
Appledore manager Keith Shapland was pleased to get back to winning ways on Saturday.
The Fishermen beat University of Exeter 3-0 at Marshford to take them up to seventh in the SWP Division One East.
Ollie Stevens scored twice in the first half, before Brian Levine wrapped up the win after half-time.
The victory and clean sheet pleased the Appledore manager after a disappointing loss to Mount Gould in the Devon Premier Cup on Saturday.
“The win came off the back of a very, very poor performance in the cup.
“I decided to bring in some of the younger players and give them a chance for Saturday’s game and we had a lot of players back again.
“I’ve seen better university teams, but that’s the nature of their set-up.
“As far as our performance goes, we got behind the ball well, found a creative way of playing and we scored three goals.
“They’ve acquitted themselves very well.
“Sometimes it needs a shake up and maybe now is that time.
“We’re not writing the season off, but being where we are gives me a chance to switch things around.
“We can put performance before results.”
Shapland’s side host Bovey Tracey on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the Division One East, Torridgeside welcomed Bovey Tracey to Donnacroft, and were forced to work hard for a 3-2 win.
Bovey took the lead after 23 minutes after breaking away.
Jamie Bright equalised for T-Side eight minutes later before Rory Paine put them in the lead from the penalty spot.
Bovey levelled five minutes after the break with a superb free kick.
George Folland was sent off for Torridgeside before Nathan Knight got the game’s winner, reacting to a Bright shot that richocheted off the post.
The win keeps Barry Paine’s side third in the league.
Torridgeside welcome Budleigh Salderton to Donnacroft on Saturday.
Division One West
In the Division One West, Holsworthy snapped a seven-game winless streak with a 3-1 win at Dobwalls.
Wes Pugh scored twice for the Magpies, with Nathan Bonney also netting.
They travel to fourth-placed Millbrook this Saturday.
In the Premier, Witheridge were beaten 5-2 by St Austell.
Callington Town visit Edge Down Park on Saturday.
