Replay were 44-32 winners when they took on Cheetahs in an Exmouth Netball League match.
Replay went into the meeting with the league’s youngest team, missing a number of regular players.
However, they made a high-tempo start with Emma Davey and Debbie James back in the shooting circle and the first quarter ended with Replay leading 12-6.
Cheetahs responded well in quarter two thanks to some disciplined defence from Lucy Harris and Kern Wyath and, at the other end of the court, some clinical finishing by Molly Graham, who returned a shooting accuracy of 99 per cent!
Replay countered the Cheetahs surge with fine centre court play from Sam Chard, Sally Bond and Lucy Burch Replay and, at the end of the second quarter, led 24-12.
Injury hit Replay in the third quarter with two players forced out of the action and so a reshuffle of positions was called for. The Replay reshuffle saw Janko move to centre and Jill to wing defence. Burch and Bond moved into the defence circle with Davey and James taking over in the shooting circle. There followed a period of uncertainty in the Replay ranks and Cheetahs took full advantage. However, one Replay player shone through during this time and that was captain Sam Chard.
For Cheetahs, Tess Findel Hawkins, Grace Bailey, Keira How and Emily Wells took control and they began to close the gap in terms of goals scored, but not sufficiently to change the outcome of the match.
Replay will need to regroup and get injuries out of the way if they want to compete with the likes of Cougars and Comets.
Well done, to Cheetahs who never gave up. The Player of the Match awards went to captain fantastic, Sam Chard for Replay and the impressive Tess Findel Hawkins for Cheetahs.
