The Lyme Regis April Stableford produced a glut of good scores, writes Richard Jackman.
The ‘Star of the Day’, winning Division One was an in-form David Fidge whose 42 points with 21 on each nine, including five birdies in his round was also the best score of the day.
Rob Coombe also had 21 going out but had to settle for 17 coming back to take second place from Mark Lewis on 37.
Division Two had three players all on 41 points, but Steve Piper’s brilliant 22 points on the back nine, including five three-pointers, saw him to top spot, continuing his run of good form.
Martin Dixon just beat Alfie Crisp on countback to take second place.
The midweek stableford produced a stream of pars and bogeys from young Mannie Wellman as he notched up an impressive 43 points. Geoff Pontefract just took second place on countback ahead of David Fidge, both with 38 points.
