Feniton two-wood title joy for both Barrie Singleton and Di Bowden

Feniton team enjoyed success in their latest men’s Over-60s Triples League matches, writes Roger Smith.

The Hawks won 30-26 away at Budleigh Salterton where their winning rink, bagging a 19-10 success, was the one of A Murdoch, R North and J Skinner.

The Eagles won a very close match at home against Heavitree C, beating the Exeter-based side by a single shot at 37-36.

The winning rink was P Bright, A Morgan and D Coyne, 23-12 and the Falcons secured a most convincing win at home against North Tawton, 49-16.

Both Falcons rinks were successful with C Tyler, F Brooks and T Chapman , winning 26-5 while the rink of J Quentin Navarro, B Singleton and K Lovering won 23-11.

The ladies lost their Over-50s Triples League meeting with Sidmouth Blues, going down 39-20. The Feniton mixed team enjoyed success against tourists Westlecot, beating the Swindon-based visitors 107-97. The winning home rinks were; M Evans, A Coyne, D Conbeeer and R Clarke (22-12); D Bowden, C Maynard, J Livings and D Coyne (21-16) and G Blackmore, A Kury, M Whitcombe and R North (17-14).

The mixed were also in action with a trip across to Chardstock where honours ended ever at 69-all. The winning rinks for Feniton were the ones of L Crook, B Bowden, R Binmore and R Veitch (22-12) and P Bright, G North, L Ley and C Jacob (19-18).

The weekend was given over to the club two-wood competitions. In the ladies semi-finals, Judy Smith defeated Vanessa Murdoch,15-13, while Di Bowden defeated Glenys North, 16-4.

In a close final Di Bowden was victorious over Judy Smith, winning 14-11. In the men's semi-finals, Barrie Singleton defeated Tony Kury, 15-8, while Chris Jacob defeated Bill Bowden, 16-12. In the final, Barrie Singleton overcame Chris Jacob, 14-8.
