Exmouth Town bag the talented Ben Steer ahead of new campaign

Exmouth Town boss Peter Buckingham is delighted that Ben Steer has now committed to the Southern Road club.
The news comes after the Chudleigh-based former Plymouth Argyle youngster travelled to Dorchester for the midweek meeting with Bideford (a game that Dorchester lost 2-1), but did not see any action.
Town boss Buckingham said: “Ben [Steer] rang me this morning to say he has made his mind up and he wants to play with us at Exmouth.
“I am frankly delighted with that. I had always felt he would commit to us, but when other clubs are courting a player – as they do at this time of year – you can never be sure until the player actually says to you that he is committed and on board for the coming campaign.”
Buckingham continued: “I have told Ben that I have no doubt he will get another crack at the professional game. He has clearly been very well schooled at Plymouth Argyle. He trains and plays like someone who has spent time with a professional club and, at 19, he has bags of time left to get another chance at making it in the pro game.
“I’d like nothing more than to see him use Town as a springboard back to the football league and we will certainly enjoy having his skills in our team until that day comes.”
