The Nomads squad was tested to the limit this week with a number of unavailabilities meaning a fair few players playing in unfamiliar positions. However, there were some great shifts put in by Ian Urmston and Phil Curtis, both of whom stepped out of retirement to help the Nomads in their hour of need.

The match was played out in monsoon conditions, which meant there were plenty of scrums for the large Exmouth front row of Dan Carey, Rich Crellin and Neil Sharland to get stuck into, winning all their own and a large portion of the opposition ball.

Dan Dickson, who has made a bright start to his time in senior rugby, scored his second try in as many outings and the other try was scored by Dan Carey. Nomads were hamstrung during the second half when they suffered a number of injuries. The match did see a first senior appearance for Joe Schunk, who rose to the challenge putting in a number of defensive hits on the much larger Honiton pack.

Lloyd Murrin was named Man of the Match, while the recipient of the ‘night shirt’ was Bob Skelly, for knocking on two metres from his own line under no pressure which resulted in Exmouth conceding significant field position! Next up for the Nomads is Saturday’s trip to Sidmouth 2nds.
