Archant

Notwithstanding rain and really strong winds (do you remember them?), East Devon golf club’s own assistant professional, Andrew Place, won the fifth Devon Professional Golfer’s Alliance competition, writes Paul Willoughby.

The event was staged on the East course at Saunton golf club on the final Thursday of November and Andrew took top sot with an excellent 38 points.

‘Par’, as you all know by now is 36 points so scoring a 38 in those conditions was really impressive.

Andrew joined the team at East Devon in 2015 where he gained his professional golf qualifications and is now a very proficient (and patient) teacher. Well done, Andrew.

He also came second in the pairs team with fellow club member, Steve Morton, with an exceptional better ball score of 41.

Whilst the photo above was taken when Andrew joined East Devon, his smile was just the same when he left the 18th green at Saunton last week!
