Brixington Blues Under-14s powered to a 9-1 win over Exeter Panthers when the teams met to contest Exeter and District Youth League points.

Blues began well, making light of what was a cold and damp morning and they took a fifth minute lead with Joel Knott providing the assist for Jack Drew-Cull to net.

However, the lead was swiftly cancelled out with a Blues defensive error and a clinical finish.

The lead was just as swiftly restored with Drew-Cull once again the scorer, with both Oliver Bradley and Knott involved in the build-up.

With skipper Jake Haggerty and Harrison Fox looking solid at the back there was no repeat of the early swift restoration of parity and, at the other end of the pitch the lead was doubled when Ethan Beverley scored to send Blues into the break with a 3-1 lead.

Early in the second half a Jake Haggerty corner was headed home by Drew-Cull to complete his hat-trick and make it 4-1.

Haydon Simpson, debut-making Reece Alexander and Thomas Rowsell were all involved prior to Beverley scoring his second and five became six with Rowsell providing the assist for Beverley to complete his hat-trick.

Alexander launched the move that led to the seventh goal; his pass finding Fox who sent Lewis Ayles away and, when he found Rowsell, he again provided an assist for a fourth Beverley goal.

Ayles then turned provider for Elliott Bowyer to rifle the ball home to make it 8-1 and then, after Russ Bracey had made a fine save to deny Panthers a second, the scoring was completed with Alexander, Knott and Beverley all involved prior to Drew-Cull scoring his fourth of the game to complete the scoring.

In terms of the Blues’ Man of the Match award, the honour was shared by Ben Geare and Lewis Ayles.
