The bowls season for the Budleigh bowlers has moved on a pace since the relaxation of the social distancing rules, writes David Roberts.
Within a few weeks, the tentative one-to-one matches have turned into regular roll ups and have quickly moved on to pairs and triples and the club – and players – are now looking forward to launching summer outdoor competitions later this week.
Thursday and Friday will see the early rounds contested with a variety of competitions - the club singles championship as well as the mixed and men’s pairs together with the two-wood and 106 competitions.
Matches start at noon on Thursday (July 16) and 10am on Friday (July 17) with the action continuing throughout both days.
Further matches will be played in the coming weeks with the finals set for mid-September. Spectators are welcome, but please remember the social distancing and health and safety rules which will of course apply to the matches themselves.
However, with the weather set fair, hopes are high that the club will be putting on a couple of highly entertaining afternoon sessions of bowls.
