Brixington Blues Under-12s rounded off their season in super style, lifting the Exeter and District Youth League KO Cup at the St James' Park home of Exeter City Football Club.

Blues, who finished runners-up in their division for the second successive season, won the cup with a 3-2 victory over CS Pumas.

After conceding a goal early on to a well-worked set-piece, Blues hit straight back with a bullet header from Harry Bennet who powered the ball home from a terrific Joe Cole corner.

Once level, Blues played with a swagger and it was no more than they deserved when, following slick passing move, Charlie Skinner drilled the ball through to Tom Garland who finished with aplomb.

Pumas hit back and only a wonderful save from Blues glovesman Paddy McGuinness kept his side ahead.

However, the Mid Devon side did level, but Blues were not to be denied and, after squandering a few chances, won the cup when Bennet finished off another great move.

Blues coach Neil McGuinness said: “I am proud of each and every one of the players involved both in this game and the season. The final performance was a great all-round one and that reflects the amazing season the team have had. We can now look forward confidently to the new season.”
