Brixington Blues Under-10s were 3-1 winners when they met Sidmouth in an Exeter and District Youth League encounter.
Blues began brightly and struck first with a fine team goal. Goalkeeper Billy Roswell started the move that saw involvement from Harry Walker and Alex Haggerty before the ball fell to Noah Osbourne and, when his fierce strike cannoned back off the bar, Morgan Hooper reacted quickest to tuck the ball home.
A similar passing move saw the lead doubled with Joss Beasor, Jason Robertson, Harry Walker and Ashley Billingham all involved before Billingham applied the finish.
Sidmouth would have halved the deficit but for a terrific save from Billy Rowell and, later, when Rowsell was beaten, the post came to his rescue to keep the ball, out
A finger-tip save by the Sidmouth custodian denied Haggerty a goal before, at the other end of the pitch, a handball offence saw a penalty that was tucked away to leave Sidmouth behind by just the one goal at the interval.
The decisive fourth goal of the game was another fashioned from good team play. Joss Beasor won possession and found Noah Osbourne who, in turn found Harry walker and his long-range strike flew into the net to complete a 3-1 success.
That completed the season for the young Blues who have been managed throughout the campaign by Dave Haggerty and Joseph Harnick.
Haggerty said: “On behalf of Joe [Harnick] and I it’s a huge round of thanks to al the players who have been a pleasure to coach this past season and also to the parents who have been superb in their season-long support. Now for a break before we come back and do it all again as an Under-11 side.”
