Brixington Blues Under-14s dished up a fine all-round performance to defeat hosts South Molton 4-1 in an Exeter and District Youth League match.

Playing up a significant slope, Blues started well and Lewis Ayles hit the post in early exchanges before Joel Knott played in Jack Drew-Cull who fired marginally wide. With skipper Jake Haggerty and Harrison Fox forging a solid back pairing Blues were in control. However, the home side did carry a threat and, when they did mount a slick counter attack Blues goalkeeper Russ Breacy made a fine save.

Ethan Beverley then crossed for Oliver Bradley to see his header well saved by the home glovesman before Haggerty, Ben Geare and Drew-Cull linked up in a move that ended with Joel Knott firing Blues ahead.

Knott then turned provider for Oliver Bradley to score and send Blues into the break with a 2-0 lead. Jayden Marles and Haydon Simpson were introduced at the start of the second half and, before long Blues were three up, courtesy of a stunning goal! A home goal kick was headed back by Ayles and the header found Thomas Rowsell who beat his marker before rifling a long-range shot that hit the bar before nestling in the back of the net. South Molton hit back with a fine goal of their own but Blues were always in control and scored their fourth with a wonderful individual effort from Oliver Bradley.

The Blues’ Man of the Match was Elliott Bowyer.
