There was a fun filled atmosphere at Pecorama fields for the Beer Blazer series of runs, writes Dave Mutter.

A total of 130 juniors completed the 1k run that was won by Oscar Bond in a time of 6:42 with Charlie Wheeler of Honiton Scholl, second in 6:45 and Charlie Vine of Beer Primary was third in 7:02.

Some 73 runners took on the 5k event with the first four home all members of AVR!

First across the finish line was Harvey Green in 19:02 with George Chapman taking second in 19:12, Sam Eyre, third in 19:25 and Peter Johns was fourth in a time of 19:45. Another AVR, Paul Chapman, finished 18th in 29:06.

The organisers changed the 10k race to a distance of 10 miles this year and sent the runners over a tough course across Grizzly country, but with a fantastic perfume of wild garlic to spur the 136 finishers on!

James Denne of Gloucester AC was the victor, finishing in a time of 1:10:02 with Liam Storey of Climb SW Trail taking second place while AVRs Tim Lenton finished third in a time of 1:12:41.
