Blistering August sunshine awaited the five AVRs as they set off on Saturday’s gruelling Jurassic Coast 10k at Budleigh Salterton, writes Dave Mutter.
This was the 10th anniversary year of this scenic yet strenuous multi-terrain race. With stunning views across the Jurassic Coastline coupled with punishing cliff top ascents, the hardy AVRs wound their way along the route in the sweltering sun – slowly roasting in their valiantly-worn commemorative T-shirts.
Despite the heat, all five runners made a sterling effort and conquered this arduous course.
First home was Eleanor Wood, who steamed across the line in 47:17 was first in her age category and seventh female overall.
Next came Roger Bramley in an impressive 51:32. Sarah Herfet soon followed and smashed her PB taking 57:38, not far behind was Chris Hill with a tremendous time of 1:01:17 and Yvette Hill who was completed in 1:04:11. A top effort by all!
