Woman dies after collision between bus and car near Sidbury

An elderly woman has died following a road traffic collision near Sidbury this morning (Monday).

Emergency services including paramedics, police and the air ambulance were called to the scene, near the Hare and Hounds and Farway, at around 9.30am following reports of a collision between a bus and a car.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed that passenger of the Ford Ka, a woman in her 80’s, had suffered a medical episode and died at the scene. The woman’s next of kin have been informed.

“The male driver was taken to RD&E as a precaution for a head injury.”

Diversions were put in place around Farway Castle, Runcombe Corner and Chelston Corner as the road to the Hare and Hounds remained closed for the morning and some of the afternoon
