Healthy eating group needs votes to capture a big Teco grant

Axminster based healthy eating charity HALFF is bidding to win a big cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

The supermarket teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales awarded to local worthy causes.

Three groups in every Tesco region are shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

HALFF is one of the groups on the shortlist.

Voting is open in the Axminster, Seaton and Honiton Tesco stores in September and customers will cast their vote using a token given to them at the checkout each time they shop.

A spokeswoman for HALFF said they were hoping to bag lots of votes so they can continue to fund their ‘cooking for one’ courses in Axminster and Seaton and their cooking sessions with the SWITCH youth group in Honiton.
