Commandos put pupils through their paces at Chardstock

Children from across the Acorn Multi Academy Trust came together for a fun filled day with the Royal Marines.

The event took place in the grounds of St Andrews Primary, Chardstock, and saw the pupils undertake a range of exciting physical, mental and team-building activities with Royal Marine commando instructors.

All of the activities were carefully tailored to improve the children’s resilience, confidence, communication, courage and ability to remain cheerful in the face of adversity.

Great fun was hard by all, with new friendships made and the children leaving with a huge sense of achievement.

Some of the children were singled out for their special effort during the day, and each received their own Royal Marine cap or compass, in addition to a certificate of achievement.

Luke Owen head at Marshwood Primary Academy was hugely impressed with the day.

He said: “All of the children played a full part and embraced the important message of hard work, determination and team-work being the key to overcoming any and every challenge.”
