Police said a woman was waiting at 5am in Salterton Road when she was approached by a stranger.

Officers at Exmouth are appealing for information and have released a description of a man they would like to speak to.

Devon and Cornwall police described the man as being white, aged in his 30s, with brown hair combed backwards. He was wearing a black jacket and black trousers and possibly spoke with an Italian accent.

Police Constable Mark Edwards, at Exmouth police, said: “At approximately five o’ clock in the morning on Saturday, 24th March, a female was approached by a male at the bus stop outside of Tesco, on Salterton Road.

“The male asked the female for a cigarette and then tried to hug the female taking hold of her coat whilst doing so.

“The female was able to get away from male and continued on her journey.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, and quote crime reference number CR/25122/18.
