Raft races, rowing championships, barrel rolling and more

Beer Regatta ended on a high with visitors turning out in force for a busy week of activities.

The 11th annual Regatta Day was opened by John Lang, chairman of Beer Horticultural Society, and kicked off a packed day of events - both on land and on the water.

In the afternoon, teams took to the sea in hand-built rafts to see who could complete the course first and without sinking.

Raft designs ranged from Ghostbusters and the Spice Girls to a giant whale and a castle, with all participants cheered on from the beach by large crowds.

Sailors also took to the water to compete in a series of lugger, working boat, cruiser and dinghy races.

The week-long regatta also featured a Sunday fun day for families, barrel rolling and rowing championships. The fun concluded last Friday with a disco al fresco.
