TV show will showcase PECO products to a national audience
Beer-based model railway company PECO has helped to launch a new TV programme being dubbed – “Bake off for trains!”
The “Great Model Railway Challenge”, will be screened for the first time on Channel 5 this Friday (October 5).
It brings model railways to the national TV network for the first time in a competitive situation.
In the contest 15 teams are challenged to compete with each other across five heats, using their creativity and ingenuity to build a model railway in just 24 hours!
There is fun, drama and excitement as the pressure is on to produce their layouts to the highest standard possible in a limited amount of time.
Viewers can see the quality and skill demonstrated as the teams show their true competitive spirit as the contest heats up.
PECO has been involved in the show’s production from the very early stages and is delighted it will showcase many of its products, including the track that the trains run on.
The company also publishes the UK’s top selling model railway magazine, The Railway Modeller, and editor Steve Flint was called up to act as one of the Challenge’s judges, making the tough calls when decisions had to be made.
He said: “The programme is full of fun, tension and controversy, but in the end the best team wins, and are crowned as Britain’s Best Railway Modellers.
“It’s not often that model railways get the chance to shine on the small screen, so this opportunity was too great to miss. It also showcases the products that this local company manufactures at its production facility and offices in Beer, local products made by local people. People are likely already to know about this company’s tourist attraction Pecorama, but this is a chance to see what else goes on at this enterprising business and how their products are used.”
The first show starts at 8pm this Friday, and runs every Friday at 8pm on Channel 5 until the grand final on Friday, November 9.
