Hawkchurch Fete Committee donates £500 towards the new ECG machine

Hawkchurch Fete Committee has donated £500 to help Axminster Medical Practice buy new heart monitoring equipment.

The latest ECG machine can be fitted and removed at the surgery, enabling doctors to get instant results.

Previously the devices had to be fitted by community nurses and the data sent to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for the results - which could take up to three months.

Although the new machine means a little extra work for the practice nurses its saves patients and doctors a long and sometimes anxious wait.

After presenting their cheque to Axminster Hospital League of Friends last week a spokeswoman for Hawkchurch Fete committee, Ruth Churchill said they were delighted to help the group “to continue their work supporting local medical care/tests which benefit us all in and around Axminster - including our beautiful village of the Roses”.

Planning is already under way for the next Hawkchurch fete on August 27. To get involved contact Ruth via the Hawkchurch Village Facebook page.
