Ladies create floral designs using standard bunches of supermarket flowers, foliage and twigs.

Budding flower arrangers from Axminster were amongst women from across the area at a sell-out flower arranging workshop at Combe St Nicholas Village Hall.

Watching a step-by-step demonstration, they learnt how to make a floral design using standard bunches of supermarket flowers, foliage and twigs.

Marnie Beadsley, of Axminster, said: “Amongst many other tips, learning that the placement of flowers is key to the overall design was really useful. It was also lovely that other ladies on the workshop were all willing to share ideas and materials.”

Gillie George, also of Axminster, said: “I found the workshop really lovely and look forward to recreating my design again and again.”

Jackie Nicholls, from Ashville Design, who teaches the workshops said: “Everyone who came went home with a fabulous design that they could make again. It just goes to show that you really don’t have to spend a fortune to make a very special arrangement.

“Some of the designs made on this workshop were created with just a £2 bunch of flowers, some garden foliage and twigs that had been foraged from the woods. Now that’s what I call real value for money!”
