Four crews called to a blaze at a commercial unit at Heathpark Industrial Estate

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from an alarm monitoring company concerning a commercial unit at Heathpark Industrial Estate in Honiton at around 11pm last night (Friday, June 9).

Two fire appliances from were immediately mobilised.

As the appliances were sent on their way, a further call was received from someone on site stating this was a confirmed fire. Further appliances from Middlemoor and Ottery St Mary were mobilised.

On arrival, the incident commander confirmed a fire in an industrial ironing machine.

Crews wore breathing apparatus and used various extinguishers, as well as hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. There was five per cent damage to the property due to smoke and flames. The cause of the fire was accidental.
