Onlooker feared that three childen were being blown out to sea

Lyme Regis lifeboat launched yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, October 10) to a report of a boat drifting with three children aboard.

The volunteer crew responded to a call from the Coastguard at 3.49pm to a report that the vessel was being blown off shore near West Bay. Twenty minutes later they arrived on scene to find the children had made it safely to shore and all were safe and well.

The call came from a member of the public who thought the children were struggling against the wind.

RNLI officials say if you see someone in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the coastguard
