Cheques for £1,000 presented to the Care Service and United Charities

Two Axminster charities have each received £1,000 from the town’s Rotary Club.

The money has been given to the Axminster Care Service and the Axminster United Charities.

Cheques were presented to representatives from both groups at the Rotary Club’s recent meeting.

President Don Waterhouse told the gathering that “helping the local community is one of the main responsibilities of Rotary and these donations are a good example of how Rotary work with local organisations to support the needs of its citizens both the young and the not so young.”

Through its team of volunteers Axminster Care Service provides

invaluable support to many local worthy causes and also manages the Charity Togs shop, in South Street, the Senior Citizens Centre and the transport service for hospital appointments.

The Axminster United Charities administers help in many ways to those in need in the community providing much needed assistance throughout the year to deserving individuals and to local welfare organisations in the local community .
