Devon and Cornwall police say they received the call at around 8.40pm after concerns were raised for a man’s welfare in Beacon Hill.

Police said armed officers were in Victoria Road before attending the scene.

A spokesman for the police said officers were allegedly threatened by someone with a weapon.

Officers said a 24-year-old man had been arrested just after 11pm for alleged affray and was in custody at Heavitree Police Station in Exeter.
