Matthew Bason is bringing his one-man Christmas music show to the Congregational Church in Beer. Read this and more.

GENEROUS PORTIONS: The Keystone at Branscombe’s Bulstone Hotel is donating 10 per cent of all of its restaurant bills to charity this month.

The eaterie is supporting Action Against Hunger’s Love Food Give Food appeal to help save the lives of malnourished children.

Every pound given will be doubled by the UK Government.

GET PLANTING: To celebrate the Royal Horticultural Society’s Dig Together Day, Beer gardeners are planting two trees in the cemetery.

The cemetery gardener will plant a rowan tree grown by Ursula Makepeace from seed and a weeping silver birch.


COACH TRIP: Beer’s Seriously Occasional Singers are off on a coach trip to Bath to see its Christmas market on Sunday, November 25.

The trip is a joint venture with Seaton Babes and Ballads, with whom Beer’s singers will be performing by Bath Abbey.

They leave Beer at 9.15am and set off back at 5.30pm.

FESTIVE FUN: Beer Women’s Institute is taking bookings for its Christmas lunch for over-60s until Wednesday.

The meal will be held in the Mariners’ Hall on December 6 at 12.30pm.


YULETIDE QUIZ: The Fountain Head in Branscombe is looking for teams of four for its Christmas quiz from 7.30pm on Tuesday, December 4.

Entry is £10 per group and there will be a raffle, with all proceeds going to Devon Air Ambulance.


GET YOUR SHOP ON: The Branscombe Seniors are going on a coach trip to Clarks shopping village in Somerset on Monday, November 26.

It departs from the village hall at 9.30am, and tickets are £10 for members or £12 for non-members.

They are also having a Christmas lunch on December 8.

SOLO BONANZA: Matthew Bason is bringing his one-man Christmas music show to the Congregational Church in Beer on Saturday, December 8 from 2pm.

He will be playing festive tunes on the Wurlitzer in an afternoon of light entertainment.

Tickets are £6 for adults or free for under-16s.
