The first Exmouth and East Devon music awards are coming up tomorrow night (8.30pm, Friday, October 21) at the GWRSA Railway club on the Royal Avenue.

Now that the ‘September Scramble’ at the start of the new school year is out of the way, here’s something to look forward to for parents and grandparents - Budleigh Big Band Night with AJ’s on Friday, November 4.

Show of Hands – one of the UK’s foremost folk bands – have lined up three shows on consecutive nights at the Exmouth Pavilion, just yards from the folk club where they formed.

The Beehive will be hosting Pop-up Opera’s production of The Barber of Seville, on Friday, October 28.

British harmony trio Blake are appearing at the Exmouth Pavilion on Friday, November 11.

Souled – the nine-piece Stax, Motown and Atlantic soul revue – are playing a free show during the afternoon of Saturday, November 5, at the Exmouth Pavilion.

After an excellent and well-attended return, Sidmouth Jazz Club is again opening its doors on Wednesday, October 19, from 7.30pm to 10pm at the 1922 social club in Church Lane.

A series of free weekly lunchtime classical concerts is now well under way in Exmouth.

Exmouth’s Strand Inn has recently re-opened under new management, and is now featuring a regular weekly open mic night on Thursday evenings.

BBC Folk Award-winning singer and songwriter Nancy Kerr and the Sweet Visitor Band are at Matthews Hall, Fore Street, Topsham, at 8pm on Sunday, October 9.

Revered blues guitarist Dave Peabody and German violinist Regina Mudrich will be performing a mix of blues and jazz at The Bridge Inn, Topsham, this Saturday (October 8) at 8pm.

The New Jersey Boys’ Oh What a Night returns to the Manor Pavilion Theatre by popular demand tonight (October 7) and on Friday, October 21 at 7.30pm.

Pete Allen was recently back in the Cellar Bar of Kennaway House, Sidmouth, with his rhythm section. He had just flown back from Majorca, where he did three shows.

Exmouth’s Renaissance Chorus has made its European debut.

Exmouth guitarist Simon Watton – a former teacher who’s now focusing full-time on his musical career – has released his own piece, Nouvelle Cannonesque, on download. A folk instrumental with a strong classical flavour, it’s available from all regular download sources.
