Catch the heir to the ‘king of Chicago blues’ at the Palladium Club on Friday (November 30).

THE sound of Chicago blues will fill the Palladium Club in Bideford on Friday when Mud Morganfield, the eldest son of blues legend Muddy Waters, makes his only South West appearance.

This son and heir of the ‘king of Chicago blues’ is blessed with a powerful voice that can manage to convey deep emotional resonance on the slow numbers and good old fashioned testosterone-laden strut on the classic shuffles.

Not to mention a natural sense of showmanship that ensures audiences fall into the palm of his hand as he mixes up his sets with his father’s classic songs and his own original material.

“I started to sing to show the world that dad left me here,” said Mud,

“I love and am proud to sing his songs just like I love and will always be proud of him. I’m not Muddy Waters and I’m certainly not trying to be Muddy Waters - I’m Mud Morganfield but when I’m up on stage I always feel pops is there with me and it means so much that I can get on stage and keep his music alive.”

Mud is making just one stop in the South West during his UK tour – in Bideford at The Palladium. Tickets are available from the club on 01237 478860 or Solo Music in Barnstaple on 01271 325274.
