Archant

The latest novel from a West Hill author takes inspiration from the pressure on local communities for new development and the threat to destroy the rural environment and way of life.

In Philip Algar’s ‘It’s Just not Village Politics’, the residents of Woodfield Magna, having been confronted by local government and big business, now face Westminster.

The government is determined to change the village by imposing unwanted and unaffordable houses and a juvenile criminal centre, with the story focussing on the residents’ fight against the plans.

Mr Algar said the sequel to ‘its Just Not Village Cricket’ is inspired by the works of PG Wodehouse and Tom Sharpe, and pokes fun at a range of targets, including politicians, celebrities, public relations, political correctness, official statistics, self-important company directors, the media and much more.

He said: “The subject of this book will be familiar to everyone anxious to preserve a way of life that is being overtaken by those who believe that even unnecessary and unwanted change means progress.”

It is available from local bookshops or direct from the author on 01404 814157 or by emailing philipalgar@btinternet.com.
