Join UK jazz quartet Compassionate Dictatorship on Wednesday, January 30.

BRITISH jazz explodes into Barnstaple tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan 30) with innovative quartet Compassionate Dictatorship playing the Gallery Café at the Queen’s Theatre from 8pm.

This is perhaps a more unusual jazz set up, featuring drums, double bass and electric guitar, as the quartet incorporate rock elements into their music - with impressive results.

The collaboration between saxophonist Tori Freestone and guitarist Jez Franks saw the quartet develop with the inclusion of Jasper Hoiby on bass and drummer James Maddren.

All four are well known on the British jazz scene and the band is now promoting its third album, having released the first in 2007, going on from strength-to-strength and with critical acclaim.

Tickets for the under 25s are just £5. For more information or to book, call 01271 324242 or visit www.northdevontheatres.org.uk
