THE hilarious experience of 14 operettas in 90 minutes comes to the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple this Friday with Gilbert and Sullivan Abridged.

Step – briefly – on to the deck of HMS Pinafore and join the Pirates of Penzance for a quick reviving as this zany and ambitious comic parody takes the audience on a whirlwind tour through the entire works of the famous duo.

With a voluptuous mezzo, a veteran baritone, a pompous tenor and an ambitious but ditsy soprano attempting the blot in an hour-and-a- half, this UK premier of the ingenious US comedy does for Gilbert and Sullivan what the Reduced Shakespeare Company did for the Bard.

This is a show for Gilbert and Sullivan aficionados, anyone who would like to know more about them or even those who thought they were a firm of solicitors, but appreciate good comedy and a roll in the aisles.

The show starts at 8pm, and tickets are available from 01271 324242 or visit www.northdevontheatres.org.uk
