Update: Public viewing for short films based on historic Barnstaple building on Thursday, December 6.

AN innovative series of short films inspired by the history of St Anne’s Chapel in Barnstaple will premiere at the historic town centre building on Thursday, December 6.

They have been created by students studying art and design at Petroc and will be available to view from 7.45-9pm, which follows a private viewing for the Mayor of Barnstaple and guests.

Petroc lecturer Polly Pocock was approached by the management of what is now St Anne’s Arts and Community Centre to see about making the films and she said it had been an exciting opportunity.

“There had already been some surprising discoveries made, like the paper darts, which meant the social history became tangible. It was these elements which really connected with the students,” she said.

“Those who put themselves forward have worked incredibly hard and with a lot of independence to complete these films. They have been inspired to create films ranging from Lego animations to work based on the food eaten by those using the building.”

* PLEASE NOTE: The film screenings are December 6 and not Nov 29 as prevbiosuly publsihed and for which we apologise.
