Beaford Arts and Route South West launch a packed spring programme of talented performers.

AN exciting programme of music and some of the South West’s most talented musicians will be performing on North Devon’s doorstep in the coming weeks.

Beginning on Saturday with a much sought after duo at Kings Nympton, Beaford Arts has teamed up with Routes South West to bring a variety of rising performers to local community venues.

Kings Nympton Parish Hall will first be hosting engagingly individual string duo Ben & Alfie, plus singer songwriter Nicky Swann.

Ben & Alfie’s intricate music, complex rhythms and colourful harmonies is combined with powerful lyrics, with an eclectic range of influences.

This young duo is fast becoming a much sought act, supporting renowned artists such as Chris Wood and Seth Lakeman and they will be playing at The Royal Albert Hall later this year.

Nicky Swann has shared the stage with many top artists including Charlotte Church and Clive Gregson and she is well known on the festival scene.

She has won various accolades including ‘Best Acoustic Act’ at the South West Music Awards and an Artsbase singer-songwriter award.

Further ahead, on February 8/9 creative local jazz musician Emily Knight will be appearing at West Anstey and Buckland Brewer village halls.

Saturday’s gig starts at 7.30pm, with a pre-show Burns Night supper at 6pm. Proceeds will go to St James Church. For tickets call 01769 580456. For future events and more information, go to www.beafordarchive.org.uk
