Two radio icons will be the stars of these two shows at The Plough.

A DOUBLE dose of radio memorabilia is on the cards next week at the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington.

On February 10 (Fri) one of the UK’s most decorated broadcasters, Andy Kershaw, will be spending an evening regaling an audience with wild stories, strong opinions and humorous exploits.

Andy is known to have lived his life as the title of his autobiography suggests, with ‘No Off Switch,’ and Stephen Fry said of him: “His unrivalled role in bringing world music to the ears of the west is just part of the story of this man whose zest for life, music, people, experience and travel made him the finest British broadcaster bar none.”

Andy has worked on Radio Four, and was a DJ on Radio One for fifteen years where he shared an office with the iconic John Peel.

And John Peel’s eclectic box of records will be honoured the next night, February 11 (Sat) in John Peels’ Shed by John Osborne.

John Peel’s Shed is a story of one man’s love for radio, and was devised after John Osborne won a competition on John Peel’s Radio One show of a box of records that took eight years to listen to.

The live show was a sell-out at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival and features rare and obscure recordings previously owned by the late John Peel.

The show is inspired after John Osborne recorded how he listened to a different radio show every day, all day, for a month, in his debut novel, Radio Head: Up and Down the Dial of British Radio.
