Woodbury manager Adam Reid has had his calculator in action whilst the weather has been bad and has been polishing his crystal ball!

He said: “I think we need 50 points to go up, I made a prediction just over 12 months ago that we needed 49 or 50 points to get promoted. As it was, Lords went up with 48 points in third place so I wasn’t far off. This season will be closely contested throughout and I do feel that a team with 50 points will be in the mix. I think maybe 54 or 55 points will win the league and 50 or so will take the two other promotion spots. It’s going to be that tight. Its all simple calculations but they work year in year out. It’s similar to the Barclays Premier league where you need 40 points to stay up, basically an average of one point a game over 38 matches. By the same formula an average of two points a game should get you in the top three. We have 24 league games in a full season so just over two points a game sees us finish with 50.Another formula people use is win your home games and draw your away games and you will get promoted, but it’s the same answer. Basically, average two points per match over 24 games. Each way round we need about 50 points”

Woodbury’s November player of the month went to Alfie Cleave who produced some superb performances in the two matches the side played as the fixture list was badly affected by the weather.

Reid said: “Whilst it’s only the two games to base the award on the plain fact is that he (Cleave) was exceptional in both outings. He scored in each game and also supplied assists. He seems able to cleverly mix a robust no nonsense approach with some sublime play-making ability.”

Cleave’s Player of the Month award sees him take over then crown from October winner, Woodbury vice captain Michael Simpson.
