Honiton Hawks Under-8s were involved in a tremendous high-scoring contest when they entertained Old Plymothian and Mannamedians (OPM) RFC on Sunday morning.

The Hawks had a squad of 11 boys who were; Arran Hansford, Evan Lowman, Hamish Terry, Harry Haysom, Kyle Moore, Liam Webber, Luke Devin, Mason Peek, Taylor Prettejohn, Torin Brunskill and Will Parris.

The Plymouth side arrived in Honiton with a depleted squad of six youngsters and so the teams agreed to play a longer-duration-than-normal 6-s-side match with the Hawks using rolling substitutes.

A hard-fought contest followed with both teams displaying some good quality passing and support play in attack along with strong tagging performances in defence.

Several times, each team won possession back by claiming seven consecutive successful tags of the opposition!

It was Hawks who emerged victorious by a score of 12 tries to 11.

Both Arran Hansford and Hamish Terry scored a hat-trick of tries and there were two tires each for Will Parris and Liam Webber. Young Webber’s try was his first for the Hawks since he joined the team in January and this earned him the ‘Best Effort of the Day’ award.
