Upottery suffer blow to Division Eight title hopes

Upottery Reserves suffered only their second defeat of the Macron League Division Eight season when beaten by the odd goal in five at Kentisbeare Reserves.

The Mid Devon side opened the scoring with a good through-ball and finish, but Steve Morris managed to level things up to make it all even going into the break.

After the break, Kentisbeare came out the more determined and took the lead again, but Upottery kept plugging away and were rewarded for the efforts when Olly Cramer laid off the ball for Gavin Richards to shoot and restore parity once again.

Although Upottery dominated the game, it proved to be one of those days! The Kentisbeare goalkeeper pulled off some great saves, and, with 10 minutes to go his team mates rewarded his terrific display between the posts by launching a counter-atatck that ended with them netting the games fifth, and winning goal.

On Saturday, (March 25)Upottery face Bravehearts and need to win this game to keep their title hopes alive. The Upottery Man of the Match award was shared between Matt Frost and Adam Retter. The Kentisbeare star man was goalkeeper Thom Bunker.
