Division 1

Signs South West 25, Tip Top Trees 20

Flamingos 35, OPG 29

Uplowman 41, Weather Girls 10

Top game of the night was between Flamingos, undefeated at the top of the table, and OPG who needed to defeat Flamingos to maintain their hopes of the title, writes Graham Ingram.

The game started evenly with scores at 8-8 at quarter time. It was still all square at half way with both teams having scored 16 goals. In the third period the Flamingos moved 26-22 ahead, finishing victors by 35-29. Sarah Clark was the Flamingos star whilst Carol Goddard took the honours for OPG.

Third placed Uplowman had taken a beating at the hands of OPG last week, but this week they bounced back with a win against the Met Office Weather Girls. With Viv Grant once again at her best the Uplowman side maintained their third place with a comfortable 41-10 despite some good play from Maria Dorothy for the Met Office.

Third game of the night saw Signs South West wanting to keep the pressure on Uplowman with a game against a Tip Top Trees side still looking for their first point. At quarter time it was the Trees who led by 5-4, with SSW drawing level at half way – at 10 goals each. With both Debbie Wheeler (for SSW) and Phoebe Comfrey (for 3Ts) playing well, the game was on a knife edge as Signs SW went 26-22 ahead before finishing victors by 35-29. Nevertheless the result saw the Trees gain their first point!

Division 2

JD Tyres 28, Water Babes2

Sidmouth Toucans 27, Pixies 14

Howden Hawks 15, Otter Valley Dairy 14

With Hi Q not playing, Pixies had a chance to go level on points when they came up against Sidmouth Toucans. Sarah Fletcher and the Toucans had other ideas though- winning 27-14, starting with 16-4 lead at quarter time that they gradually built on to lead 12-8 at half way before moving 20-11 ahead going into the final session.

Although Emma Mason worked hard for Pixies they could not get back in the game and went down 27-14, doing just enough for a point. The win saw Toucans got the gap on Pixies.

JD Tyres also benefited with a good win over Water babes, still looking for that elusive first point. It was not to be gained as they found themselves on the wrong end of a 28-2 score line that kept JD in third place. JD player of the match was Tiff Munt whilst Rowan Bedford was the Water Babes player to watch.

Third game was the closest of the night with Howden Hawks up against Otter Valley Dairy again. Last time they met OVD had taken the points. This time it was 2-2 at quarter time, with Hawks edging ahead at half way by 4-3. With Victoria Paley doing well OVD had regained the lead at 8-7 going into the final quarter. Nicky Vile for Hawks had other ideas and they came back to snatch the victory by 15-14 at the end. Phew!
