Sidmouth Town begin a run of three successive Saturdays of cup action when they travel to South Devon to meet a Roselands side that currently props up the WBB (Solicitors) South Devon League Premier Division, to play a Throgmorton Devon Premier Cup tie.

The Vikings, who were beaten 1-0 last Saturday at St Martins in a South West Peninsula League Eastern Division game, follow tomorrow’s game in Paignton with an FA Vase tie at Western League top flight side Cadbury Heath next Saturday (October 13) and seven days later they host Axminster Town in a Walter C Parsons Funeral Directors Cup tie.

The defeat at St Martins left Town sitting seventh in the table and they are now 15 points adrift of table-topping Elmore, who dropped points for only the second time this season in a 1-1 Wednesday night Horsdon Park draw with Appledore.

Town have now lost three of their five league away game so far this season; each time they have failed to score on their travels, they have lost, with this latest away defeat coming on top of a 1-0 defeat at Axminster Town and a 3-0 reversal at Appledore. In stark contrast, the Town home form is much better for they have chalked up three wins and two draws in their six home games to date with their only Manstone Lane defeat being a 3-2 defeat to unbeaten Elmore.

Tomorrow’s game at Roselands offers the chance for the Vikings to add to the 44 goals that they have scored so far this season in 14 games in both league and cup.

Roselands have shipped 22 goals in their first four games and lost 5-0 last Saturday in their league game away at Kingsteignton Athletic.
