East Budleigh Reserves had to come from behind on their way to a Macron League Division Seven 3-2 home win over Okehampton Argyle.

A brace from Jack Hocking and a solitary strike from Craig Leaman sealed the win for a Budleigh side who made hard work of it.

Budleigh looked the more likely early on as Hocking struck a post and Ollie Clark had his header tipped over from a Wayne Gooding corner. It was Okehampton who struck first from a free-kick against the run of play, before Budleigh equalised on 37 minutes; Jack Parsons laid the ball off for Hocking, who drilled the ball into the net. Four minutes later the away side shocked Budleigh to go back in front once again.

After the interval, Gooding lashed a shot against the upright as Budleigh forced their way back; Josh Sale and Ben Wilks were hard working in the midfield and it was the former who saw his shot pushed over the bar. From the resultant Gooding kick, Hocking made the perfect run to head home. Twenty minutes from time a free-kick from Gooding saw Matt Tidmarsh head on to the bar before Leaman followed up with a smart finish. Joe Walker was denied a Budleigh fourth by the woodwork, whilst at the other end Tidmarsh produced some quality defending to pick up the Man of the Match award as Budleigh held on.

This Saturday (September 29) Budleigh are at Broadclyst for a league game.
