Terror Pins out skittled at Ottery St Mary

I’ve got to know three phrases to do with the game of Skittles, these are flopper (all 9 pins down with first throw), spare (taking down all nine pins with a single ball and sunshine (the ball runs through the pins, writes Conrad Thomas.
All these came into play when Terror Pins travelled to Ottery St. Mary Football Club last Thursday for the return match against Floppers.
The previous game was very closely contested with Floppers winning by a margin of just three pins, but what unfolded this time was a completely different story!
Terror Pins commenced with a 56 pins first leg, which they repeated in the final leg, but even then neither was enough to win them a single leg. Every member of the home team were on top of their game, whilst the visitors struggled.
Floppers produced one flopper and no less than 10 spares as they dominated the proceedings taking the legs by margins of 8, 33, six, 16, 9, 9, 13 and two 2 to give them a whopping 96 pin victory.
With the exception of team captain Chris Gatter with 70 including a spare, and Merv Handford, who recorded another, it was a tale of for the Terror Pins, especially with legs in the forties and low fifties.
It was not going to be their night, and once again this term a member got the dreaded sunshine, the misfortune falling this time to Karl Edworthy, the youngster of the squad.
The final scores were Floppers 506 (Jenny Webber 82 and Martin Chappell 73), Terror Pins 410.
Whoever makes the Terror Pins final eight scheduled to play at the Feathers Inn tomorrow (Friday) will be hoping for some better luck!
