After dedicating 30 years to Honiton Netball League, Graham is stepping down as the league’s secretary.

What began as simply supporting his wife soon led to full commitment to a flourishing league. In 1987, Graham became the league’s first Committee member.

Soon after, he qualified as an umpire and helped officiate games.

Graham has continuously been a great inspiration to the league and as a result, he was the first to receive an award named in his honour.

This trophy will be presented annually in recognition of those who go ‘above and beyond’, and it will be Graham’s lasting legacy to the Honiton Netball League.

Other award winners for the recent seasons were: HiQ, Division One winners and Summer runners-up; Flamingos, Division One runners-up and Summer winners; Toucans, Division Two winners; 3Ts, Division 2 runners-up; Swaggamamas, fairplay award; Karen Bennett, Summer player of the year; Flora Hastie, Julie Sphor, Janko Salzwedel and Michaela Sydenham, The Karen Lewis Memorial Trophy for umpire of the year; Lois Norman and Courtney Wilbor, young players of the year; Graham Ingram, Award for going above and beyond; Tiffany Munt, Heather Beviss and Franki Heffernan, Division Two players of the year; Olivia Warwick Division One player of the year.

It is an exciting time to be a part of Honiton Netball League; it continues to expand and thrive in terms of facilities and involvement.

Recently, the courts at Honiton LED were resurfaced providing teams with a high-quality surface to play on and the league is expected to have 20 teams entered into the upcoming winter season.

Some new teams have become established as a result of ladies enjoying back to netball sessions in Exeter (St James School on a Wednesday at 7pm until August 16), Tornados at Broadclyst on a Tuesday at 7pm, Honiton pay-and-play over the Summer on a Monday at 7pm, and Honiton Netball Club, every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8pm from September.

The teams play regularly at either Honiton LED or Colyton LED.

Supporters are often found on the sidelines and the league welcomes new players or teams.
