A round-up of local football and rugby on the first Saturday of November

Axminster Town share four goals with Ilfracombe Town in an entertaining South West Peninsula League Eastern Division game at Tiger Way.

Luke Finn scored both the Tigers’ goals.

In other local football Colyton were beaten by Cronies for the second Saturday running, beaten 3-0 at Coronation Fields, Topsham in the Devon Premier Cup. In the same competition, Feniton scored four times against South West Peninsula League Eastern Division side Budleigh, who scored six times to take the place in the last eight of the cup.

Upottery made Devon Intermediate Cup progress thanks to a 5-0 win at Glebe Park against Ipplepen Athletic Reserves and, in the same competition, Dunkeswell Rovers won a thriller against South Molton, who they beat 5-4 at Hemyock.

In Macron League football, Beer Albion chalked up their most emphatic Premier Division win of the season, beating Okehampton Argyle 7-0.

In Division Two, Axminster Town Reserves won 5-3 at Newtown Reserves.

In Division Three Axmouth United were beaten 5-1 at Clyst Valley Reserves and Beer Albion Reserves went out of the Devon Senior Cup, beaten 4-0 at Lapford 1st team. In Division Four Feniton Reserves went down 4-0 at Lyme Regis Reserves, but there was a first success of the season for Millwey Rise who won 3-0 at home to Exeter University Fifths.

In Division Five, Awliscombe, who only won their first game of the league season seven days before, won again, this time beating Exmouth Spartans 3-2. Cranbrook remain unbeaten away from home after a richly deserved share of the spoils of a Devon Yeoman side yet to be beaten at home this season.

In Division Six, Offwell Rangers lost 6-2 at home to Willand XI, but Seaton Town Reserves won 3-1 at Exeter United and Colyton Reserves won 6-4 at Chagford Reserves.

In Division Seven, Otterton Reserves were beaten 3-2 at Sidmouth Town fourths while East Budleigh Reserves went down 3-1 at East Budleigh.

RUGBY

Honiton RFC took their points tally in their Tribute Cornwall and Devon campaign to an impressive 446 in just nine games as they thrashed Pirates Amateurs 75-10 at Allhallows.

The win see the Lacemen sitting fourth in the table, just six points shy of second placed Bude who are, in turn, three points shy of table-topping Plymstock Albion Oaks.

The other Tribute Cornwall and Devon results for November 3 are: Torquay Athletic 35, South Molton 18; Withycombe 17, Liskeard & Looe 20, Bude 27, Penryn 19; Hayle 47, Plymouth Argaum 21; Lanner 6, Plymstock Albion Oaks 16 and Topsham 34, Tavistock 0

In the Western Counties (West) Chard went mighty close to becoming the first team to inflict defeat on a Sidmouth side that returned to their East Devon home with a narrow 27-24 win.
