Exmouth RFC were 25-321 winners when they travelled to Newton Abbot to contest a South West Premier fixture.

The Cockles trailed 10-0early and were two points behind at 15-13 at half-time before powering into a 25-13 lead and then they withheld a home fight back to land their first away win of the league campaign.

The win keeps the Cockles in fifth position, but a first defeat of the season for Ivybridge – beaten 33-29 at Maidenhead, means the Cockles are now just four points behind the Bridgers who remain second with table toppers Bournemouth – now the only unbeaten side in the division, a further four points clear at the top.

Exmouth 2nds were also winners of their meeting with Newton Abbot 2nds, beating them 56-37 having led 35-8 at the halfway stage.

In local football, Budleigh Salterton were unable to build on their midweek success over Liverton United – the Robins; first win of the league term – when they went down 4-1 at home to Honiton Town.
