Rifle shots so close

16:26 27 November 2012

ONLY one win in seven was the miserable tally for Bideford Rifle Club in their latest round of Devon Winter League and North Devon League shooting matches, although some of the defeats were agonisingly close.

The A team lost by just one point to Tavistock A in the Devon Winter League, despite 100/100 from Martin Morgan, while in the North Devon League the A team lost by half a point to their own bogey score.

Bideford B lost by just two points to Tiverton A and the C team went down by one point to Tiverton B.

The only team to win their latest match was Bideford B, who beat Budleigh Salterton B by 20 points in the Devon Winter League.

Devon Winter League round 5: Bideford A 485 (Martin Morgan 100), Tavistock A 486; Bideford B 479, Budleigh Salterton B 459; Bideford C 464, Okehampton B 470.

North Devon League round 2: Bideford A 391 (Martin Morgan 100), Bogey 391.5; Bideford B 385, Tiverton A 387; Bideford C 377, Tiverton B 378; Bideford D 322, Okehampton C 379.

There was better news for Bideford in the first round of the Kynoch Shield, with the A team easily beating Pinhoe D on the first step of their bid to retain their title for the third year in succession.

Bideford B team was drawn against the C team and this match resulted in a win for the C team, largely because one of the B team members failed to sign his card, a disqualification offence.
