Tipton Seconds put on a fantastic display of football and Honiton had no answer to the hard-working talented Tipton side who are starting to believe that they are capable of being promotion contenders, writes Mike Dawe.

Tipton’s first goal came from a throw in. James Gosney’s header fell to Barry Wood who turned and shot from eight yards. Tipton continued to pile on the pressure and played some good passing controlled football, but were caught out when Honiton’s winger broke down the right wing pulling a brilliant ball back to find a player on the edge of the area whose shot was unstoppable.

Tipton came back at Honiton and chance after chance went begging. Gosney played a superb ball through to Jonny Beer who easily beat the keeper, 2 -1 up and buoyant Tipton never stopped the high tempo creative football.

Tipton were rewarded with a free kick on the left, Wood connecting to find Beer who turned and shot in the middle of the goal.

(Turn to page 61.)

The fourth came when Beer returned the favour finding Wood from the left. The partnership of Wood and Beer upfront is going from strength to strength in every game.

Tipton came out in the second half hungry for more goals and Wood soon found the net again when a shot from Nick Feeney was fumbled by the Honiton keeper, Wood alert as always scored the follow-up.

Phil Paddison then connected with a stunning header from a corner, giving the keeper no chance.

Tipton deservedly relaxed a little to let Honiton play and were punished when a good counter attack resulted in a goal. The goal kicked started Tipton again and Wood, with the support of his fellow team mates, scored three more goals.

Man of The Match was shared between Barry Wood and Ben Dawe.

Tipton Seconds next match is home to Tedburn St Mary 2:15 kick off.
