FIVE young North Devon surfers paddled to success in the final race of the British Paddleboard Series in Bournemouth

FIVE young North Devon surfers put in great performances in the final race of the British Paddleboard Series 2010 in Bournmouth.

Thirty-five Nippers, aged between seven and 13yrs, took part and although there was little surf, all were able to compete the 1.5km paddle.

Summer Whiteley was first in the girls and took the overall gold with maximum points.

Jack Unsworth brought home a bronze medal in the boys and second place overall.

Rachel Coles, 11, finished fourth, only missing out on third place by three points and one of the youngest Nippers, Nalani Whiteley, finished seventh overall despite not being allowed to compete in the first race of the series in Portreath due to the severe weather conditions. Luke Nichols also finished 7th after he, too, missed out on points due to not being able to attend a race.
