North lifts three-wood title at Feniton

It was another disappointing week for the Feniton teams in the men’s over-60s Triples League, writes Roger Smith.

The B team lost at home to Axminster by 27-43 with the one winning rink that of A Morgan, A Evans and D Coyne 19-14. The A team lost away at Ottery St Mary by 17-43 and the men’s team also lost on all rinks to Devon Patrons.

The ladies lost narrowly to Topsham in a rearranged over-50s match, beaten 33-29.

They also lost to St Thomas in the NBTL, going down 39-27 with their one success a 19-15 rink win for K Wise, C Sanders and Ru Clarke.

In a close East of Exe League match against Tiverton Borough, the mixed team won by 71-68. The winning rinks were: L Crook, T Cox, S Kury and A Kury, 26-9 and G Skinner, L Ley, R Veitch and I Veitch, 26-12.

The mixed team lost a friendly against Tiverton West End, beaten 76-44.

The weekend was taken up with the finals of the three-wood competition. In the semi-finals, Richard North defeated John Livings and Andrew Evans defeated Graham Phillips.

In the final, Richard North triumphed over Andrew Evans by 55-46.
